Our History

Boarding School History Luckley-OakfieldLuckley, founded in 1918, has always occupied its present site. The main house, which dates from 1907, replaced Luckley Manor, an ancient property mentioned in the Domesday Book.  Oakfield School was established in the Lake District in 1895. The two schools were amalgamated on the Wokingham site in 1959 as an independent educational trust regulated by the Charity Commissioners.

Today the Luckley-Oakfield site benefits from new and spacious facilities which complement the main house. The elegant Edwardian country building with attractive lawns and gardens forms the core of the School. The extensive playing field and woodland areas provide girls with space for sport and recreation.

 Luckley in the 21st Century

The school is a thriving community of around 250 girls.  Luckley's staff are committed to caring for every individual, offering a wealth of experience, personal development and qualifications. Luckley girls are well prepared for adult life in every respect.  High academic standards, together with excellent preparation for higher education and the world of work, are underpinned by an ethos of concern for others, unselfish attitudes and an awareness of the rights and duties of a good citizen.
