Frequently asked questions

 Where will I live?

If you are in Years 7 to 11 you will live in the Main House and if you are in the Sixth Form you will live in Cornish House.

Who will "care" for me at boarding school?

Boarders receive a lot of care and support from both their friends, the boarding staff and their tutors. The Head of Boarding and House Mistresses are available to help with prep, for general advice or personal matters. The Gap Assistants and Senior Boarder from Year 13 also provide friendship and guidance.

Will I be able to speak to my family?

Girls can speak to their families using their mobile phones or the pay-phones in the boarding houses. Calls can be made after school, before supper and after prep. Wi-fi is available, so girls can also keep in touch via email and social networking.

Where can I spend my free time?

In addition to taking part in after-school activities girls spend their free time in the common rooms, their bedrooms and school grounds. As the town is within walking distance, girls are also given permission to make trips into Wokingham.

What happens at the weekends?

There are no lessons at weekends. On Saturday boarders enjoy breakfast/lunch between 9.30 and 11.00am, providing the chance for a lie-in. On Sunday there is a short service in Drake Hall, followed by coffee. A variety of activities take place throughout the term. The boarders devise the schedule of activities with the Boarding Mistresses, to accommodate everyone’s ideas and interests. Activities range from scuba diving to ice-skating, shopping trips and cultural visits to galleries and cities.
